Fitzsimons and Salta laboratories investigate repeated mild TBI, hippocampal neurogenesis, inflammation and dementia using mouse models, single-nucleus/spatial transcriptomics, morphology, electrophysiology and behavioural testing. Preferred start January 2027.

MSc in biomedical sciences with neuroscience specialisation or similar; hands-on animal and/or molecular/cellular biology experience; an Article 9 laboratory-animal certificate is a prerequisite; proven interest in bioinformatics of complex datasets; fluent English and ability to work at two locations.

NWO Open Competition Domain Science M2-funded salaried doctoral project.

- EUR 3,204–4,051 gross/month, plus 8% holiday and 8.3% year-end allowance.

- 38 hours/week; initial 18 months, extended after satisfactory evaluation to four years.
