Investigating the brain cell sub-types that modulate healthy ageing in response to diet and nutrient-sensing signalling pathways

Investigate how insulin signalling in neuronal and glial cell populations affects lifespan and healthspan in Drosophila, using functional genetics, behaviour and single-cell transcriptomics. Supervisors: Nathan Woodling and Susan Broughton. Named project in the 2027 NorthWestBio call.

First/upper-second UK honours degree or international equivalent in an appropriate science, achieved or expected. IELTS 6.5 or specified exemption. Apply through the Glasgow admissions portal AND the correct NorthWestBio recruitment form, with CV, transcripts, personal statement and two referees; no research proposal. Up to three projects at different institutions.
